Sweet Baby Orange BBQ Wings
For the sauce:
1 tb butter
1 tb olive oil
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, sliced
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 cup Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce
Zest of 1/2 large orange
Juice and flesh of 1/2 large orange
Sauté onion in butter and olive oil over medium heat, seasoned with the salt and pepper for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and parsley. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the garlic is slightly brown. Add the barbecue sauce, orange zest, flesh and juice. Simmer for 5-10 minutes over low heat and keep warm.
For the wings:
12 whole wings
2 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp cracked black pepper
2 tsp granulated garlic
Drizzle of olive oil
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Coat the wings with a drizzle of olive oil and season with the spices. Cook the wings on a cookie sheet for 25 minutes.
Bringing it all together:
Toss the wings in a 1/2 cup of the barbecue sauce and broil them for 1-2 minutes on each side, until the sauce has caramelized. Place on a platter and top with the remaining barbecue sauce.
Serve alongside additional optional sauces for dipping and enjoy!
