I started Togathercuisine out of my love for seeing my friends and family together in my home, sharing stories, catching up on missed time, laughing, drinking, and of course eating. Whenever I picture past gatherings, I can’t help but smile. It is from these gatherings that new memories are made. People who may have not known each other before they entered my home have an unforeseen opportunity to bond and start relationships of their own. As for me, I personally get to reconnect with the people that I hold dear. And I get to cook… a lot!
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of having over a group of friends that I made down here in Miami in addition to a couple of recent transplants from my old neck of the woods. We drank bourbon. We laughed. We bonded over things we never knew we had in common. And at 8pm, we sat down for what I like to call a Southern Feast.
On the menu was the following:
As the hors-d’oeuvre:
- Stuffed Bacon-Wrapped Dates
For the dinner:
- Creamed spinach
- Corn on the cob with two compound butters
- Macaroni and cheese
- Fried chicken with a honey hot sauce
Knowing how much it pains me to be in the kitchen during gatherings in my house, I made sure everything but the frying of the bird was all that was left to do, giving me the opportunity to be with everyone for a majority of the night.
Today, I share with you photos of the event.
Stay tuned for all of the recipes!
